June 2008 Family Photo - National Race for the Cure, Washington DC



This was taken post-race. I ran the 5K in around 39 minutes- yippee!! After this photo was taken, I went to the Survivor Tent where I was invited to compete in the "Best Costume" contest and I won second place for the t-shirt I designed (seen here). The front says; "Fake?" and the back reads: "Of course they are fake, the real ones tried to kill me!". It was a big success and so much fun to see so many people smile and laugh at it! Thanks so much for asking.. Great actually. No Chemo Or Radiation needed, just frequent Systoscopy's.,
Now preparing for my surgery this Monday, July 21st but this one is just for a D&C which I know are real common....Peri-Menapause, (gotta love it) (smile) I'm having my own Private Summer!!! (wink)

Just a little nervous going under again. It's always the Anesthetia part that gets me...

Hope your enjoying your weekend. It's REAL HOT HERE...

Hey Tina! My treatment right now is Femara, Zometa and Zoladex. Just trying to knock-out the hormones. I'm also doing the really healthy diet change (ie. green juice and veggies!), getting in shape and de-stressing, etc.. All is good so far, all of my blood work shows that my marker count keeps dropping, so I'm happy! Hopefully I can keep that up and just keep on doing the healthy thing! Anything in particular that you are doing right now?

Hey Tina,

Last night I posted a note to you and then went to bed. As I was laying there I started to feel my usual anxiety. I was thinking "oh no, belly jelly". I read all the posts and felt another "thing" to deal with. It is too much. I am still preparing for two more sessions of chemo. I am bald and having to deal with how grey my hair is and what to do with it when I am done. I am boobless and trying to adjust to covering the unusual shapes of them till I begin reconstruction and now I am dwelling on beely fat. oh, and how I will have the energy to be a Mom. Too much. I will have to deal with my belly later. I am so in the middle of this battle. Belly Fat is a warrior I will either fight or surrender to later. In Feb all I worried about was being alive so I have to keep all of this in perspective.

Right now I love my belly fat because it makes my Neupagen shots so much easier. So I hope it makes other things easier later.

Thanks for listening to my ramble. Good luck on your belly battle!!!!
