At 11:46am on March 4th, 2008, Mariely Reyes said…: Hi Kristi, my name is Mariely Reyes, I am 27 yrs old, and when I was 26 I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. I had a 15 centimeter tumor removed, but my doctors did not feel that it was necessary to remove my ovaries, fallopian tubes or uterus because they looked good. I did 6 cycles o chemo, and went into remission in Nove mber 07. In December I had a ct scan that showed that I was cancer free. On Feb, 1 I had a laproscopic surgery that revealed that I had new growth in my fallopian tubes, ovaries, and intestines. My remission party was over. I just hada hysterectomy on Friday. I am still in th hospital. I always wanted to have more kids, I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years, we always knew we wanted kids after we got married. This has been the hardest days of my life. I know longer have a cancer that will go away, it is now a chronic disease. Not sure if chemo is in the plan for the future, the docs are still trying to figure that one out. I am living my life in the now, not the past or future. I know that my journey towards healing may never end. I have come to peace with that. I consider myslef a survivor because Kris did say you don;t have to be in remission to be a survivor. The most comforting feeling right now is this forum, and being able to speak to people like me. No one understands what I am feeling like the CSC community does.

I was diagnosed July 06 at 36 years old. Wow..you are celebrating almost 8 years as a survivor. Awesome!!
