About Me:: Diagnosed with papillary thyroid canser spring 2008. I have had 2 surgeries to dissect lymph nodes and remove a portion of my thyroid. Now I have to deal with the remaining tumour, the bugger. I had RAI in September to eradicate this major pain in my neck.

I am a single mom with a fabulous son, a very supportive mother (more like my 86 year old girlfriend, she passed away Oct. 17, 2008) & my posse of wonderful family and friends. I love to garden, watch movies, read bios & murder mysteries & do botanical illustrations & water colours. I support our local food bank as much as I can. In the past my mother & I held with afghan & appies parties. Now I am learning how to properly feed myself to kick cancer's ass.

One of my close friends here in Prince, one of the Canasta Nasties, passed away this morning after her journey with lung canser. Sherry was diagnosed after I had my news. We spent time together in Vancouver as well when she had her surgery to remove a canser tumor in her brain a few days before I was to start my radiated iodine treatment. Thanks-giving up in Canada TOO for me!!!

I saw my oncologist this morning... The current swelling in my neck is generalized swelling as a result of the radiated iodine treatment and is typical. It is not the tumor increasing in size. My ct scan showed generalized swelling and no new lymph nodes. My T level is 8 and it needs to get down to 2 but that will come with time. My thyroid dose is bang on for me. I will need 2 more blood tests next year (Feb and May) and then HOPEFULLY one final body scan in September following 2 thyrogen injec… Continue

Foods That Fight Canser lesson session

The end of this month I will be hosting a lunch time session at work for interested staff members. Many folks have asked me for more information about eating healthy. Great Lady Joins Eternal Allstar Baseball Team

Janie Rose Adamick, my mother ,(86 and a half) passed away last night. She has been my rock of gibraltor over my canser journey this year. Whenever I hit a rough patch, she was there to root for me and give me a reason to get up in the morning. (Someone had to make her coffee!) Your son sounds amazing as do you, those are books I really want to get my hands on. I just find it so hard right now, so much going in my life - inner and outer - at times I don't know whether I'm coming or going. So much change, huge shifts, and another procedure to get ready for on Tuesday.

Thank you for your friendship. I very much would love to talk more. Your knowledge is clearly extensive and most intriguing. I love chocolate. Loved, oh God, my opiate fried egg of a brain, Like Water for Chocolate, I think. Read that years ago and really loved it. I can't even remember the name of the woman who wrote it. She's so good.
