Carrie, it is overwhelming, so just remember to breathe deep. My bc started at calcifications in my right breast, and I noticed it was slightly larger then my left. So they did mammo and ultrasound and decided to do biopsy. Cancer, so I decided to have a bilateral mastectomy, vanity and symmetry and not having to worry about it in the other were my guiding my decision. They did sentinel node biopsy and cancer was present, pulled seven more and six had cancer. After surgery they did a bone scan and discovered that my cancer had metastised to my sternum. I am ER/PR neg but very positive on the Her 2 Neu gene. I was put on Navelbine and Herceptin, and have been on Herceptin and Zometa for 8 years. This is my early story. I will you wellbeing and happiness as you survive this disease. Keep in touch. Gail
Hope you are doing well. I was just diagnosed with inflammatory bc in June 2008. I was inspired to know that you can actually have stage 1V bc and survive 8 years. I know I am naive but just starting this whole process is a bit overwhelming. I need some inspiration about now. If you feel like sharing, I would like to know a little about your battle early on. Did you have lymph node involvement? Thanks and God Bless
