I don't know if there is any genetic predisposition for you regarding ovarian cancer potential, but I can tell you that there have been studies that have shown that sugar CAN be an issue with ovarian cancer AND breast cancer, particularly as this relates to IGF-1 (Insulin growth hormone factor). This also can be influenced with dairy consumption as there have been studies showing the connection with the IGF in milk/dairy products and breast & ovarian cancers.
So, relative to the fruit issue, you might consider staying away from high glycemic fruit like grapes, pineapple, oranges, etc. Berries, apples & pears are on the lower side of the glycemic index & have a number of anti-cancer benefits. Consider consuming them sparingly though, given the potential for the ovarian piece.
And dairy consumption has also been shown to be correlated to ovarian cancer & in some cases to breast cancer. In general, dairy generates mucus, so can be clogging to your system.
I see you're already part of Crazy Sexy Breast Cancer, you might want to check out The OC-BC Posse for interest in ovarian & breast cancers if that might resonate with you.
In any case, WELCOME! Good luck! GREAT that you are integrating nutrition into your healing process! It's a strong tool!
